Thanks for this Amanda. It’s true, we tend to get so caught up in cost-benefit thinking about how much we’ll get paid doing something, where we’ll be located if we do it, and so on that we neglect our instincts about what we really want, and listening to those can be so valuable.

Hi Jonathan – I agree. Giving and receiving happen together, in a cycle. Without one you can’t have the other.

Hi Dani – You’re right. People don’t always spend enough time on this, and, unlike you, I’m not sure everyone believes they even have a gift to share. Finding your gift can make such a difference in one’s life.

What good timing this is. I’ve been thinking about what to do with my life since I left Michigan 2 years ago. I didn’t think it would be the same thing. So I tried different things and then nothing (except my blogging of course)!

So I kept praying, meditating, and listening for guidance. Then bingo. I get hired as a professional speaker, get an order for 20 more books and am invited to do a women’s group. So I’ll be adding speaking again to my gifts I share and also will write another book. You can speak and get paid well unless you continue to publish and produce products. Again this is so timely. Thanks.

I really do believe that everyone has a gift of some sort and, as you noted, it's so important to discover what one's gift is because it will lead to a happier, more fulfilled life. I don't think people give nearly enough thought to this and you've done such an excellent job of providing guidance on finding one's gift. Giving is the only way we can receive any thing. We must give our heart , soul, love , knowledge and spirit in order to achieve our dream. You must look in the mirror and say i gave it my best , with full faith ,while never doubting my abilities to achieve anything i put my mind to. Our greatest gift relies in us providing the best service to our fellow man. YOU must give 110% each time a goal is set. Allow yourself to write down 5-6 thing activities you can do each day which will bring you closer to your dream. This may consist of making a phone call, reading a couple chapters within a book, write on a blog or checking your ppc ads. Whatever the task maybe allow your self to prioritize, work hard, and stay focuses on positivity. Amanda — I liked this post very much. I found it on Twitter and couldn’t resist checking it out. My favorite line is this one , “Our greatest gift lies at the intersection between these two questions[what do I most love to do and what do I want to contribute to people].”

The intersection for me is between writing and helping others. This is one reason I love blogging so much because I can do both. I get to write, which I love. Sometimes the things I say may help someone. In addition, as a blogger, I can reach out to new bloggers just starting and starting talking with them. When I do both, I feel very complete.

The suggestions you give in this post are excellent. Thanks for sharing them with us:~)
