Will It Hurt Anything?

forkintheroad

I can be indecisive. I think that’s pretty typical for INFPs and HSPs (and human beings in general, as well).

I like to take my time with decisions. Let my intuition weigh in. Give my subconscious a good chance to process through it. Maybe even do something crazy like a little research or weighing out the pros and cons.

And for many things, this works just fine. But sometimes I’m not getting a real clear direction to go in, and this is when the over-analyzing starts.

Should I do this? Should I do that? There’s this thing I want to do, but I don’t know if I should go for it.

And this can go on for quite a while if I let it. But what I’ve realized is that sometimes I need to just make a decision even if I don’t feel completely clear on the direction. Otherwise it’s too easy to get stuck.

And one thing I do to get myself moving is to ask myself:

Will it hurt anything to do this?

If the answer is no, then I can plow ahead with my best decision and just see what happens, because, you know, it’s not going to hurt anything.

Now if the answer is maybe or yes, then you’ve got a different situation on your hands, and that’s not the subject of this blog post. 😉

But if the answer is a no, then what have you got to lose? Go ahead, make that decision, and see what happens.

At least you’re not still stuck over-analyzing.
