When You Just Feel Like Writing…(April 2019)

I wrote a post called When You Just Feel Like Writing… back in September 2018 on a day when I wanted to write a blog post but didn’t really know what to write about. So I decided to bring that back today because, well, I feel like writing a blog post but don’t really know what to write about. 🙂

It’s definitely Spring here in Maryland. Obviously, the calendar tells us that, but I mean that it really looks and feels like Spring.

There’s a tree outside my office window that has little white blooms all over it. I love that. Other trees nearby have little pink blooms all over them. When I’m driving or walking by, those white and pink blooms can really strike me. Like, there’s a moment when I see them and I forget everything else in my life except how beautiful they are. Seeing new life after a long winter is always powerful.

Of course, it won’t be long before they fall off and are replaced by little green leaves, so their existence is fleeting. But that’s important too.

It’s been warmer and sunnier as of late, not too rainy a start for the beginning of Spring, because sometimes it is. Sometimes, it’s drizzly and chilly until May it seems. But that’s okay, sometimes Spring comes in that way.

On another topic, I have a couple of writer friends publishing some good stuff that I think readers of this blog would be into.

Author D.M. Domosea is publishing a free fiction series on her website called The Recipients of the Years of Amelia Layne (ROYAL). It’s about a woman who has to dole out the remaining years of her life (because she doesn’t want them) to other people who need them and finds this to be a much more difficult task than expected. I’ve read through Episode Two and there’s currently seven episodes available out of a planned fourteen. Check it out here.

Also, author and HSP/INFP, Ritu Kaushal has recently published The Empath’s Journey: What Working with My Dreams, Moving to a Different Country and Learning About Carl Jung Taught Me About Being an Empath. For any of you out there who identify as sensitive, empathic, intuitive, or something similar, you should check this book out. When I read it, what really struck me was how the process of moving to another country was supercharged by the author’s high sensitivity. There’s a good discussion on the stresses of moving to another country and how being highly sensitive impacted that even more. One of my favorite sections in the book is on the power of color and expressing that in various ways in your life. So much so, that I incorporated some practices into my own life involving color/art that I continue to do. Check out The Empath’s Journey on Amazon.

Okay, I think that fulfills my writing urge. Until the next time I just feel like writing…

  1. Thanks for the shout out, Amanda!

I’m definitely going to look for Ritu Kashaul’s book. I feel that the more years I accumulate (my way of saying I’m getting old), the more sensitive I become. Or maybe I’m just slowing down enough to finally notice it? I’d like to read her book to see if she offers any insights on that aspect (how our empathic, sensitive selves change as we age . . .)

    Soooo glad Spring is here!
