Writing Without An Outline

Just wanted to let you guys know, I wrote a guest post, probably a couple weeks ago now, that was published on LaurenSapala.com, on writing without an outline. I mentioned it in last Friday’s smorgasbord post, but I also thought it was worth mentioning as a separate announcement. Here’s the post, it’s called Writing Outside the Lines.

Amanda Linehan is the author of North, about a young woman on the run from her past, the law and an old adversary out to get her. Her newest release is Bored To Death: A Vampire Thriller, about a 300-year-old vampire trying to restore the balance between life and death. She has published five novels.

  1. yeah, love this.
when i’m organized enough to have an outline, i usually gasp with relief. if i can go through the labor pains it takes to produce an outline, writing it all seems so easy. boom boom boom.
but it rarely works that way for me. i’m a reluctant pantser. i’d much rather be a planner, but i hardly ever know what’s going to happen next and just have to bumble along.
