A Day So Horrible…

…it’s called Black Friday.

Funny little story about me—it was only seven or eight years ago that I learned that Black Friday is called Black Friday because stores become profitable or “go into the black.” Not because it’s an awful day.

I honestly thought that the “black” referred to the frenzied crowds willing to fight their way (sometimes quite literally) towards the best deals in retail stores across the country. A darkness that overtook the nation after our day of thanks. Maybe it was all that time we had to spend with our families. 😉

Now that I’m educated, I can laugh at myself and partake of Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals online. I’ve never been much of a shopper on Black Friday at physical stores. (No wonder, given what I thought the day was!)

You have to admit though, Black Friday is an ominous name. You’d think we’d have come up with something a little more cheerful considering it’s the day many businesses become profitable for the year.

I didn’t do any specific Black Friday sales for any of my books, though I did lower the price of the ebook version of Bored To Death to 99 cents (paperback is $10.99 and makes a great holiday gift!) early last week just to make sure that it was in place for December 1. It’s going to be on sale for the month of December.
