What I’m Reading, Watching and Listening To

Happy New Year. 🙂

This tends to be a time when we talk about goals and new beginnings or maybe reflections of the year past, but I had the urge to write about what it is I’m enjoying right now in terms of content. So here goes.

So I haven’t started it just yet, but I’m excited to read Lethal White by Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling). This is the fourth book in the Cormoran Strike series and I love it. I don’t read a ton of detective mysteries, and although I was a big Harry Potter fan, it took me a little while to pick up this series. I was pretty shortly hooked into it though.

Great characters and relationships between characters and interesting mysteries. There is also a slowly unfolding backstory for different characters that really makes things interesting as you read through the series. It unfolds in a very pleasurable way. Galbraith gives you enough, but not too much, at any given time. Can’t wait to start reading. I would highly recommend this one.

I also just started watching Game of Thrones at the urging of a friend. This has been on my “to watch” list for years, but, you know, there’s a lot of good TV out there and I hadn’t gotten to it until now. I’m almost through the first season and I’m definitely into it.

What I love about this day and age is how nothing expires. You can start a TV show 7 years after it first starts and enjoy it all the same. A couple of years ago, I began watching Gilmore Girls for the first time, 17 years after it first aired, I think. It was awesome. Loved the show, and I had all 7 seasons, plus the Netflix reboot to watch as I pleased. I’m not much of a binge watcher, so it took me about a year to get through it all–in my own sweet time. 🙂

Like everybody else, I’ve been listening to more audiobooks these days. I just finished listening to A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson, which I really enjoyed and kinda made me want to go hike a significant portion of the Appalachian Trail. We’ll see if that ever actually happens, but a really enjoyable listen nonetheless.

And, I just started listening to Murder On The Orient Express. I’ve only ever read one other Agatha Christie book–And Then There Were None–which was pretty enjoyable, so I decided to check out this classic.

And speaking of audiobooks, I use this library app called Libby to listen to a lot of them. You just put in your library card information and you can borrow both audiobooks and ebooks–awesome.

So that’s it for me. What are you reading, watching and listening to?

Suz – No I didn’t, though I didn’t realize it until the end! I’ll have to check that out.
